 The following abridged text is extracted from the “Roole des familles de l’Acadie”  sent by Mr. Randin to Monseigneur Colbert from Québec City on 8 November 1671. It has been discovered that the original text by Franciscan friar Laurent Molins, reproduced by Geneviève Massignon in her thesis “Les Parlers Français d’Acadie,” is in the Paris National Archives, but it is easier to work from this more readable abridged version despite some discrepancies. Farmer—Jehan (Jean) Gaudet age 96; his wife Nicolle (Nicole) Colleson 64. Their son Jean 18. Their developed farmland 3 acres in two places; 6 head of cattle and 3 sheep.

Farmer—Denis Gaudet age 46; his wife Martine Gautier 52. Their five children of whom two are married: the first Anne 25, the second Marie 21; Pierre 20, Pierre 27, Marie 14. All five are farmers. Their developed farmland 6 acres; 9 head of cattle and 13 sheep of all ages.

Farmer—Roger Kriessy (Caissie) age 25; his wife Marie Poirier 22. Their daughter Marie 2. No developed farmland; 3 head of cattle and 2 sheep.

Farmer—Michel de Forest (Forest) age 33; his wife Marie Hébert 20. Their three children: Michel 4, Pierre 2 ½, René 1. Their developed farmland 2 acres; 12 head of cattle and 2 sheep.

Marie Gaudet, widow of Estienne Hebert (Étienne Hébert), age 38. Her ten children of whom the two oldest are married: Marie 20, Marguerite 19; the others are Emmanuel 17, Étienne 17, Jean 13, Françoise 10, Catherine 9, Martine 6, Michel 5, Antoine 1. Her developed farmland 3 acres; 4 head of cattle and 10 sheep.

Farmer—Anthoine (Antoine) Babin age 45; his wife Marie Mercié (Mercier) 26. Their five children: Marie 9, Charles 7, Vincent 5, Jeanne 3, Marguerite 1. Their developed farmland 2 acres; 12 head of cattle and 16 sheep of various ages.

Farmer—Jehan (Jean) Corporon age 25; his wife Françoise Scavois (Savoie) 18. Their only child, a daughter 6 weeks still unnamed and not baptized. No developed land; 1 cow and 1 sheep.

Farmer—Pierre Martin age 70; his wife Catherine Vigneau 68. Their five children of whom four, one son and three daughters, are married: Pierre 45, Marie 35, Marguerite 32, Andrée 30; Mathieu is 35 and single. Their developed farmland 2 acres; 7 head of cattle and 8 sheep.

Farmer—François Pelerin (Pellerin) age 35; his wife Andrée Martin 30. Their three children: Huguette 5, Marie 2 and a female infant of 2 days still unnamed. Their developed farmland 1 acre; 1 sheep.

Farmer—Pierre Morin age 37; his wife Marie(-Madeleine Martin) 35. Their five children: Pierre 9, Louis 7, Antoine 5, Marie 3 and Anne 10 months. Their developed farmland 1 acre; 3 head of cattle and 4 sheep.

Weaver—Mathieu Martin age 35, bachelor living alone. He has 4 head of cattle and 3 sheep.

Farmer—Vincent Brun age 60; his wife Renée Brode (Breau) 55. Their five children: three married ones are Madeleine 25, Andrée 24 and Françoise 18; the single ones are Sébastien 15 and Marie 12. Their developed farmland 5 acres; 10 head of cattle and 4 sheep.

Farmer—François Gautrot age 58; his wife Edmée LeJeune 47. Their eleven children, the four married ones are: Marie 35, Marie 24, Renée 19 and Marguerite 16. Armourer—Pierre Sire (Cyr) age 27; his wife Marie Bourgeois 18. Their child: Jean 3 months. No developed land; 11 head of cattle and 6 sheep.

Farmer—Pierre Thibeaudeau (Thibodeau) age 40; his wife Jeanne Terriau (Thériot) 27. Their six children: Marie 10, Marie 8 or 9, Marie 7, Anne Marie 6, Catherine 4, Pierre 1. Their developed farmland 7 acres; 12 head of cattle and 11 sheep.

Farmer—Claude Petitpas age 45; his wife Catherine Bagard (Bugaret) 33. Their seven children: Bernard 12, Marguerite 10, Claude 8, Jean 7, Jacques 5, Marie 2 ½, Élizabeth 1. Their developed farmland 30 acres; 26 head of cattle and 11 sheep.

Farmer—Bernard Bour (Bourg) age 23; his wife Françoise Brun 19. Their child: Marie. No developed land; 6 head of cattle and 2 sheep.

Farmer—Bonaventure Terriau (Thériot) age 27; his wife Jeanne Boudrot 26. Their child: Marie 4. Their developed farmland 2 acres; 6 head of cattle and 6 sheep.

Farmer—Michel Boudrot age 71; his wife Michelle Aucoin 53. Their eleven children, the three  married ones are: Françoise 29, Jeanne 26, Marguerite 20. The single ones are: Charles 22, Marie 18, Jean 16, Abraham 14, Michel 12, Olivier 10, Claude 8, François 5. Their developed farmland 8 acres; 20 head of cattle and 12 sheep.

Farmer—Pierre Guilbault (Guilbeau) age 32; his wife Catherine Terriau (Thériot) 20. Their child: Marguerite 2. Their developed farmland 15 acres; 6 head of cattle and 5 sheep.

Farmer – Jehan Labatte (Jean Labat dit Le Marquis) age 33; his wife Renée Gautrot 19. No children. Their developed farmland 15 acres; 26 head of cattle and 15 sheep.

Farmer—Martin Blanchard age 24; his wife Françoise Leblanc 18. No children. Their developed farmland 15 acres; 5 head of cattle and 2 sheep.

Farmer—Jehan Bour (Jean Bourg) age 25; his wife Marguerite Martin 27. Their two children: Anna 3, Marguerite 14 months. Their developed farmland 15 acres; 3 head of cattle and 5 sheep.

Farmer—Anthoine Bourc (Antoine Bourg) age 62; his wife Anthoinette (Antoinette) Landry 53. Their eleven children, married are: Marie 26, François 27, Jean 24, Bernard 22. Still single are: Martin 21, Jeanne 18, Renée 16, Huguette 14, Jeanne 12, Abraham 9, Marguerite 4. Their developed farmland 4 acres; 12 head of cattle and 8 sheep.

Sailor—Laurent Grangé (Granger) age 34; his wife Marie Landry 24. Their two children: Marguerite 3, Pierre 9 months. Their developed farmland 4 acres; 5 head of cattle and 6 sheep.

Perrine Landry age 60, widow of the late Jacques Joffriau. She is without child.

Mason—Pierre Doucet age 50; his wife Henriette Peltret (Pelletret) 31. Their five children: Anne 10, Toussaint 8, Jean 6, Pierre 4, an unnamed daughter 3 months. Their developed farmland 4 acres; 7 head of cattle and 6 sheep.

Farmer—François Bour (Bourg) age 28; his wife Marguerite Boudrot 23. Their two children: Michel 5 ½, Marie 3. Their developed farmland 5 ½ acres; 15 head of cattle and 5 sheep.

Marie Salé (Sallé) age 61, widow of the late Jehan (Jean) Claude.

Farmer—Germain Doucet age 30; his wife Marie Landry 24. Their three children: Charles 6, Bernard 4, Laurent 3. Their developed farmland 3 acres; 11 head of cattle and 7 sheep.

Cooper—Jacques Belou (Blou) age 30; his wife Marie Girouard 20. One child: Marie 8 months. No developed farmland; 7 head of cattle and 1 sheep.

Farmer—Jacob Girouard age 23; his wife Margueritte (Marguerite) Gautrot 17. One son: Alexandre. No developed farmland; 7 head of cattle and 3 sheep.

Farmer—Michel Poirié (Poirier) age 20, single, son of the late Jehan Poirié (Jean Poirier). No developed farmland nor sheep; 2 head of cattle.

Barbe Baiolet (Bajolet), widow of the late Savinien de Courpon, age 63. Her eight children of whom two reside here and six reside in France and elsewhere. The two who reside here are married: Marie Peselet (Pesseley) 26 and Mariane LeFebvre 21. No developed farmland; 1 cow and 5 sheep.

Farmer—Anthoine (Antoine) Gougeon age 45; his wife Jeanne Chebrat 45. One child: Huguette 14. Their developed farmland 10 acres; 20 head of cattle and 17 sheep.

Cooper—Pierre Commeaux (Comeau) age 75; his wife Rose Bayon 40. Their nine children, one married Étienne 21. Those not married: Pierre 18, Françoise 15, Jean 14, Pierre 13, Antoine 10, Jeanne 9, Marie 7, Jean 6. Their developed farmland 6 acres; 16 head of cattle and 22 sheep.

The single ones are: Madeleine 15, Pierre 13, Claude 8. Their developed farmland 12 acres in two places; 10 head of cattle and 6 sheep.

Carpenter—Thomas Cormié (Cormier) age 35; his wife Magdelaine (Madeleine) Girouard 17. One daughter (Marie-Madeleine) 2. Their developed farmland 6 acres; 7 head of cattle and 7 sheep.

Farmer—René Rimbault age 55; his wife Anne Marie 40. Their five children: Philippe 16, François 15, Jeanne 11, Marie 10, Françoise 5. Their developed farmland 12 acres; 12 head of cattle and 9 sheep.

Armourer—Habrahan Dugast (Abraham Dugas) age 55; his wife Marie Judith (sic for Marguerite) Doucet 46. Their eight children, two married: Marie 23, Anne 17. The unmarried: Claude 19, Martin 15, Marguerite 14, Abraham 10, Madeleine 7, Marie 6. Their developed farmland 16 acres; 19 head of cattle and 3 sheep.

Farmer—Michel Richard age 41; his wife Magdeleine (Madeleine) Blanchard 28. Their seven children: René 14, Pierre 10, Catherine 8, Martin 6, Alexandre 3, twin daughters 5 weeks--Anne and Madeleine. Their developed farmland 14 acres in two places; 15 head of cattle and 14 sheep.

Farmer—Charles Mélanson age 28; his wife Marie Dugast (Dugas) 23. Their four children: Marie 7, Marguerite 5, Anne 3, Cécile 6 months. Their developed farmland 20 acres; 40 head of cattle and 6 sheep.

Tailor—Pierre Mélanson refused to give his age and to provide details of his land and cattle. His wife said that I was silly to run around asking such questions.

Farmer—Estienne Robichaut (Étienne Robichaud) refused to see me, went away giving instructions to his wife to tell me that he refused to provide details of his land and cattle.

Cooper—Pierre Lanoue, when asked his age, told me that he was in good health and did not want to give his age.
